A Great First Day Across MTPS! 💙

Today, we welcomed students back to Holly Glen Elementary School, Oak Knoll Elementary School, Radix Elementary School, Whitehall Elementary School, Williamstown Middle School and Williamstown High School. From our youngest Braves beginning a brand-new chapter to our returning students reconnecting with friends, teachers and familiar faces, there was excitement throughout the district.

At WHS, the band played the alma mater as students entered beneath the school’s annual first-day balloon arch, where they were greeted by smiling staff members and administrators. 

Across the community, our crossing guards were ready to help students of all ages travel safely to school. Inside each of our six buildings, students settled into their classrooms, reunited with their school communities and began another year of learning, growth and discovery.

Opening day is the result of months of preparation. We sincerely thank our teachers, administrators, office and support staff, facilities and custodial teams, crossing guards and every employee who worked throughout the summer to ensure our schools were ready to welcome students back. Your time, care and dedication created the warm and positive start our students deserved.

A special thank-you goes to our Transportation Department. Throughout the summer, this team worked with diligence and perseverance to integrate a new software system while preparing for the safe transportation of our students. We are incredibly grateful for their hard work and continued commitment during this busy transition.

We also appreciate the patience, understanding and partnership of our families and community members as we settle into the routines of a new school year. Thank you for reviewing the district’s updated attendance and internet-enabled device policies and reinforcing these important expectations with your children. When our schools and families work together, our students are better prepared to succeed.

There is so much to look forward to at Holly Glen, Oak Knoll, Radix, Whitehall, WMS and WHS. We cannot wait to celebrate the achievements, experiences and special moments that will make the 2026–2027 school year one to remember.
