New Jersey Statutes 18A:39-1 sets the guidelines for student transportation. It states that elementary school students (grades K to 8) who live beyond 2 miles from their school of attendance and secondary school students (grades 9 to 12) who live beyond 2-1/2 miles from their school of attendance are entitled to transportation. The guideline further states that the Board of Education may adopt lesser distances. The Monroe Township Board of Education has established the following distances for students to be eligible for transportation:
Please note: The distance is measured from the curb in front of the student's residence via the shortest route along public roadways or walkways to the nearest public entrance to the school the student attends.
Until further notice, should you have any questions/concerns regarding transportation, please contact the Transportation Office via email transportation@monroetwp.k12.nj.us. |
