Update: Unsubstantiated Threat
Dear Monroe Township School Community,
At 10:20 AM this morning I received notification from the Monroe Township Police Department that they had concluded their investigation and determined the threat to be non-credible. As such, I directed our school building administrators to return to normal operation without restriction. Students remain safe and secure, and will dismiss at their regular time today.
Please be aware that the Monroe Township Board of Education takes any type of threat to students, staff, and facilities very seriously. In cooperation with the Monroe Township Police Department the decision to place our buildings in an appropriate restricted status may be necessary to secure students and staff so that investigations can be conducted and determinations made. Importantly, the Board of Education reserves the right to exercise the full extent of Board Policy and the law to respond to any individual who makes or perpetuates a threat regardless of the credibility of the threat.
Thank you for your patience and support during today’s security incident. I recognize the level of concern a threat situation creates for our students, staff, and parents. Our counselors, teachers, administration, and School Resource Officers remain available should you have any specific questions or require assistance.
Sincerely,
Brian J. McBride, Ed. D.
Acting Superintendent of Schools
